Volleyball:
Congratulations to the 2007 Edison Community College Volleyball Team for turning out another outstanding season.  The team finished 19-14 and won another Region XII Division III District G Championship and returned to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.  The Lady Chargers had a strong performance and finished 4th in the country!  Coach Carrie Snider is very excited for the upcoming 2008 season as the program has moved up from Division III (non-scholarship status) to Division II (scholarship status).  The volleyball program has been very successful the past two seasons and the future certainly looks to be very bright for the Edison Spikers!

Congratulations to sophomore, Jessica Girod for being placed on the NJCAA Division III All-American First Team.  Jessica is the first student-athlete in the history of Edison Athletics that was awarded on an All-American team.  Jessica also was named on Region XII and OCCAC First Team.  In addition sophomores, Natasha Selle and Erin Schieltz earned Honorable Mention status for All OCCAC recognition as well.

Men’s Basketball
The 2007-08 men’s basketball team turned out another successful season by finishing 19-12.  The Chargers were led by Sophomore Tristan Welch who was third leading scorer in the conference by averaging 19.6 points a game.   The highlight of the season came when the team traveled to Sinclair to a sold out gymnasium.  The Chargers found themselves trailing by 19 points in the second half before steam rolling back to capture their biggest win of the season over the  eventual conference champions.  Coach Zeller is anxiously waiting for the 2008-09 season as he will enter his sixth campaign as the Edison Chargers Coach.

Congratulations to sophomore, Tristan Welch for earning First Team All-OCCAC and First Team Region XII honors.  In addition congratulation goes out to freshman, Paris Harris for being named Honorable Mention All-OCCAC as well.

Women’s Basketball
The Edison Women’s Basketball Team finished the 2007-08 season 14-13.  After a slow start due to injuries and a strong non-conference schedule, Coach Rank had his Lady Chargers playing their best basketball at the end of the season.  With a strong freshman class the women’s basketball team found themselves upsetting nationally ranked Owens and Sinclair.  The Lady Chargers won their two final regular season games including knocking off the OCCAC champions, Sinclair C.C. in the final regular season game.  Coach Rank is hoping the leadership of his returning players in addition to his strong recruiting class will lead the Lady Chargers as a strong contender within the conference and region play this upcoming season.

Congratulations to freshman, Gail Hartings for being named First Team All-OCCAC and Region XII.  Hartings was one of the top five scorers in the conference averaging just a shade under 15 points a game.  Sophomore, Brenda Hemmelgarn earned Honorable Mention All-OCCAC as well.
