Commercial Art Degree

The Commercial Art Program incorporates basic artistic concepts and computer technology to prepare students for the graphic arts field.

Program components include:

The development of a portfolio to document student's competencies;

Visual and oral presentations to prepare for employment;

A course in advertising to stress the business aspects of commercial art;

An internship to allow students to experience and participate in an actual workplace situation.

As a career degree, the curriculum is based on job skills rather than transferability. Many Ohio colleges and universities accept this major; however, students interested in transferring should see their advisor for information on transfer options.

Graduates will be prepared to do free-lance work and to obtain entry-level positions with advertising firms, the art departments of larger corporations, and small businesses.
