Requirements: Degree and Certificate Candidates
For regular admission to the college, you must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
- Completed application form.
- Application fee.
- Official high school transcripts or GED score reports (Official forms are those certified and mailed by the issuing school directly to Edison Community College).
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended previously. If you have earned 15 semester hours of "C" or better work at a college or university, you are not required to submit your high school transcripts, unless requested by the college for advisement purposes.
- ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) results, if you already have taken either test.
- COMPASS or ASSET test scores in English, reading and math, unless you have completed 15 semester hours or more at another college or university OR unless you have qualifying scores on the ACT or SAT.
NOTE: Students who meet entrance score requirements but who are not prepared for college level work must complete the prescribed developmental courses prior to gaining regular admittance status at Edison.
Males ages 18 through 26 are required by state law to file a statement of selective service status with the College. This statement can be completed during the admission process or at registration.

Requirements: Non-Degree and Non-Certificate Candidates
If you do not intend to pursue an associate degree or certificate, but intend to take courses for college credit, you must submit the following:

Document(s) indicating you are prepared for college level courses.

Assessment results in English, reading and math, unless you have at least 15 semester hours of credit at another college or university OR if you have qualifying scores on the ACT or SAT, OR if you are taking courses for personal interest or job requirements, as long as these courses do not include English or math.
Special Student Status. Special student status admission will be granted to any student wishing to register for technical, general education, or personal interest classes, up to five hours an academic term, or a total of 12 academic credits. After a special status student has completed 12 credit hours, he/she must complete the requirements for regular admission to Edison Community College.
Transient Student Status. Transient students who regularly attend another college are welcome to enroll at Edison for additional credits. Transient students must submit the following:
Assessment
Applicants are required to participate in an assessment process. The assessment will include an evaluation of reading, language usage, and mathematical skills.
Based on the results of the assessment process, placement in courses commensurate with a student's academic achievement is mandatory.
