Applications for the PTA program will be available to interested students in September and should be received back to the PTA program office in Room 312 along with documentation of 40 hours of volunteer experience no later than January 31st of the following year.

Selection of a new PTA class will occur annually and this will occur in March of each year.  The first semester of the PTA curriculum for the newly selected class will begin in August of the same year as selection.

PTA Program Mission Statement

The Mission of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program is to graduate exceptional Physical Therapist Assistants by providing educational opportunities for students who will graduate and be able to provide efficient and effective delivery of interventions as directed by a Physical Therapist to patients, clients and/or citizens of the community to improve their functional abilities and to promote health and wellness.

PTA Philosophy PTA Course Goals

 

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Edison Community College has now obtained Candidacy Status in the Accreditation process.  The next site visit for Initial Accreditation has been scheduled for January 31 - February 3, 2011.



Admission to this program will be made by a selective admission process.  The class size will be 12-14 persons per year.  

The proposed curriculum is 5 semesters. The first semester of the curriculum contains all general education courses. Applications for the Physical Therapist Assistant program will be available in September of each year.  Each new PTA class will be selected annually in March of each year to begin the curriculum in the following Fall semester.  All PTA course work will be scheduled during the daytime and students in each selected PTA class will take the PTA courses at the same time and will attend clinical education portions of the coursework during the same and simultaneous time periods.
