Parking Spaces
Student Parking
Students may park
in any general parking space. They may also park
in the Childcare Dropoff spaces for 10 minutes
while dropping off children at the Childcare
Center. Students may also park in
Disabled/Handicapped Parking if they have a
Disabled Parking Permit.
General Parking
General Parking
is any space not designated for faculty/staff,
visitors, disabled/handicapped, or childcare
drop off. Anyone with a valid Student,
Faculty/Staff, or Visitor Permit may park in
General Parking.
Faculty
and Staff Parking
Faculty and staff
may park in any general parking space or any
space designated for faculty and staff. Because
there are not enough Faculty/Staff spaces
available for every faculty and staff member,
some faculty and staff will have to park in
general parking. Staff and faculty may also park
in the Childcare Dropoff Spaces for 10 minutes
while dropping off children at the Childcare
Center. They may also park in
Disabled/Handicapped Parking if they have a
Disabled Parking Permit.
Only
faculty and staff with valid Faculty/Staff
Permits may park in Faculty/Staff parking
spaces. Student workers will not receive
Faculty/Staff Permits, and they may not park in
Faculty/Staff spaces.
Disabled/Handicapped
Spaces
Special parking
spaces are set aside to make the campus
accessible for people with disabilities. Those
spaces are marked with a blue, disability sign
and/or paint. Only those with a Disability
Parking Placard or license plate issued by the
state of Ohio or another state may use those
parking spaces. Disabled drivers who park in
Disabled parking must also acquire and display
an Edison Student or Faculty/Staff Permit.
If
someone is temporarily disabled (e.g. as a
result of an injury or surgery), they may obtain
a Temporary Disability Parking Permit and park
in Disability Parking Spaces. Those can be
obtained from the Coordinator of Students with
Special Needs/Disabilities, located in Student
Services.
Visitor Spaces
Visitor spaces
are set aside for the convenience and
hospitality of occasional guests to the college.
No permit is required for visitors to park in
Visitor Parking on an occasional basis. However,
recurring visitors will help Security maintain
Visitor Spaces for them if they obtain a free,
Visitor Permit.
Visitor
Spaces are monitored on a daily basis to make
sure that they are only being used by visitors.
Faculty, staff, and students who park in Visitor
spaces will be ticketed and fined.
If you
attend classes, teach, or work on the main
campus any day of the week, you are a member of
the college community - not a visitor.
That includes those days when you are not
attending classes, teaching, or working.
