Student Success Stories
Marleen Hemmelgarn

“Empty Nest Syndrome “ and my life long desire to obtain a degree in higher education was my reason for attending Edison. When my family was grown and left home I felt something was missing just working my regular job. Now was my time to discover what I wanted to be and it was time for me. This new venture was scary and I didn’t know where to start.

I came through the front doors at Edison with a lot of unknowns. Once I spoke with student services and they set me up with an advisor I began the long journey of discovery and building self-esteem. I knew I could overcome anything put before me, but I just needed some guidance. It took me a while to find what classrooms I needed. Everyone was so helpful, but I needed to just ask. It meant so much to receive a smile from a professor going down the hall. I realized that they were just as real as I was and perhaps was facing some of the same problems juggling classes and schedules.

I have graduated after seven years here at Edison and I can truly say I have really enjoyed the experience. .
