the clinical aspects of the profession, such as giving
injections, taking a patient’s vital signs, assisting
with patient exams? Medical Assistants perform many of
the same duties as a Registered Nurse. Medical
Assistants may also manage the medical office. Annual
salaries in the Miami Valley area range from $22,020 to
$28,510. Unlike nursing, Edison’s medical assistant
certificate program takes just one year to complete.
Phlebotomy

are skilled at drawing blood and other specimens.
Phlebotomists also maintain accurate patient records.
Complete the program in just one semester—16 weeks—at

Medical lab technicians utilize their knowledge of

and in-demand career field. Medical lab technicians in
the Dayton area earn between $26,750 and $39,160
annually.
Physical
Therapist Assistant*

patients suffering from a wide range of disabling
conditions to regain their strength and movement. Under
the supervision of a physical therapist, PTA’s may
perform exercises, or administer a range of prescribed
regimens including massage, traction, ultrasound, and

$47,560 for graduates of this two-year degree program.

staff is on the rise. Salary range for Office Systems
and Administration/Medical Office Support is $22,020 to
$28,510 annually. This two-year associate degree is
