Application for
Research Endorsement or Research Grant
Applications must be submitted by September 1, 2004, in order to be
considered for funding and/or endorsement during the 2004-2005 academic
year.

be reviewed by the Research Committee of the Council with awards
announced at the Council's October meeting:

Grant Award
Approved grants will be funded up to a maximum of $3,000.00
Eligibility
Research studies that have a region wide interest and/or impact upon the
teaching/learning process.
Proposal Narrative
Please provide in an attachment (not to exceed five typewritten
double-spaced pages) a brief description of the proposed research
activity. The description should provide the following:

Objectives and Needs for this
Research and/or Activity to Be Undertaken
Demonstrate the region wide need for Council endorsement
and/or financial support and state the principal and any subordinate
objectives of the proposal. Supporting testimonies or literature
citations are encouraged.

Approach
Outline a plan of action including the scope and methodology of
accomplishing the proposed activity. Present a brief biographical
sketch of the qualifications of the key personnel involved in the
proposal.

Time Line
Include a time line indicating the date on which the research
activity will commence, the date of a progress report to the
Council, and the date your research activity will be completed.

Results or Benefits Expected
identify the expected results or benefits and how these results
could have a region wide benefit.

Budget (Optional Unless
Council Financial Support is Requested)
The Council of North Central Two Year Colleges will consider
requests for support not to exceed $3,000 per project. Please
provide a detailed breakdown of the operating budget that will be
required to undertake the proposed project. This should include the
total cost of the project as well as the amount from the Council.
Note: Applicants are reminded that no requested funds from
the Council may be used to provide salaries or wages for the key
personnel. Postage, printing, data entry, and other assistance
necessary for completion of the project are considered allowable
costs. No more than $500 can be utilized for stipends.
Notification of
Grant Awards
Written notification of grant awards will be made to all grant
applicants within two weeks following the CNCTYC October fall meeting.
Grant Payments
After the grant has been approved, one-half of the grant will be
awarded. The second half of the grant will be awarded after the project
is completed and the research report is reviewed and approved.
Prior to final
disbursement of funds, the grantee must provide six copies of the
research report. This stipulation includes an abstract of the project
and its findings suitable for distribution to NCA institutional members.
Responsibilities
of Grant Recipient(s)
The recipient(s) agree(s) to refund to the Council any funds advanced in
the event that a project is not completed.
Use of Council
Name
The Council name should be used when questionnaires and other
information are distributed which directly relate to the research
project. This stipulation includes any publication of materials
following completion of the project.
A researcher may be
authorized to use the Council's name without funds being awarded.
