Thomas Alva Edison scholarship applications are due February 9th (Darke, Miami, and Shelby county HS students must obtain application/certification from their Guidance Counselor.) The main 2008/2009 scholarship application, available to any new or returning students, is due April 15th

Scholarships Sponsored by Individuals and Organizations
Individuals and organizations sponsor awards to assist students in financing education at Edison.  Unless otherwise noted, application forms may be obtained at area high schools or the Office of Student Financial Aid.  The deadline for submitting all application materials is April 23, unless otherwise noted.

President's and Trustees' Scholarships. 
Edison annually awards a President's Scholarship and a Trustees' Scholarship for full tuition to two beginning, full-time students. The awards are based on academic achievement.

Thomas Alva Edison Scholarships. 
Edison annually awards Thomas Alva Edison Scholarships to three seniors from each high school in Miami, Darke, and Shelby counties. Applicants must be in the top ten percent or be one of the top eight seniors in their graduating class. Recipients must attend Edison on a full-time basis. Selection is based on academic achievement. The awards cover full tuition and upon successful completion of the first year, the recipient may qualify for a renewal scholarship. Applications for this scholarship are available from high school counselors. The scholarship deadline is March 30, 2005.

Edison Foundation Scholarships
Edison awards scholarships to full-time and part-time students who demonstrate academic achievement.

Minority Scholarship
The College awards this full-tuition scholarship to an African-American, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American student. The applicant must be a full-time student with a record of scholastic achievement.

Arnedia M. Smith Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student with a record of scholastic achievement. The applicant must be enrolled in the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree program, pursuing a baccalaureate degree in a social or behavioral science. Students interested in a career in gerontology are encouraged to apply.

Technical Education Scholarships
Three scholarships of $900 each are awarded annually to beginning, full-time students pursuing an Associate of Applied Business, Associate of Applied Science, or Associate of Technical Study degree. The awards are based on academic achievement.

Tech Prep Scholarships
Half-tuition scholarships are awarded to students who have completed the high school portion of a Tech Prep program and have enrolled in the Edison portion for six or more credit hours. Application is made through the Edison Tech Prep Coordinator's office.

MVCTC/UVJVS Scholarship
Edison awards one full-tuition scholarship to a senior from a high school in Miami, Darke, or Shelby county who is attending either the Miami Valley Career Technology Center or the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School. The award is based on academic achievement and the recipient must attend Edison on a full-time basis. Upon successful completion of the first year, the recipient may qualify for a renewal scholarship.

GED Scholarships
Edison sponsors full-tuition scholarships for students from Miami, Shelby or Darke counties who have successfully completed the GED program. Apply through the GED office at Upper Valley JVS or the ABLE office at Greenville High School. Full-time or part-time students are eligible for these renewable scholarships. Fall Semester deadline is June 30.

Athletic Grants
Athletic grants are awarded to men or women who participate in intercollegiate sports. Applicants must be full-time students and awards are based on athletic ability. Contact the Director of Athletics for information.

Alumni Association Scholarship
The Edison Community College Alumni Association awards six scholarships annually to full-time and part-time students. Selection is based on scholastic achievement.

Martha Benkert Scholarship 
The Martha Benkert Memorial Scholarship for the Arts is a $500 award given annually to a student pursuing a degree in art. The applicant must be a full-time student with a record of scholastic achievement.

Das Family Scholarship
A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a beginning full-time student who is enrolled in either the Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science degree program.

Grand Lodge Scholarship
The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio awards a $2,000 scholarship to a full-time student. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and financial need.

William M. McCulloch Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a beginning, full-time student with a record of scholastic achievement. Preference is given to a student pursuing a program in political science or pre-law.

McGohan/Brabender Scholarship
A $700 scholarship is awarded to an employee or dependent of an employee who works at a McGohan/Brabender account located in Miami County. Applicants must be beginning, full-time students who demonstrate financial need. Application must be made through Edison Community College Development Office for employee verification.

McVety Scholarship
The William F. McVety Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award given to a full-time student who is a resident of Piqua. The applicant must demonstrate scholastic achievement and be enrolled in a business related program.

Miami County Foundation Scholarship
The Miami County Foundation awards three $500 scholarships annually to full-time students who are residents of Miami County. Selection is based on academic achievement.

Miami County Voiture 40 et 8 Scholarship
The Miami County Voiture 420, Forty Et Eight Society of the American Legion, awards a $500 scholarship to a second-year nursing student. Applicants must be residents of Miami County taking a minimum of 12 credit hours. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.

Nursing Scholarships
Two scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded annually to first year nursing students. Selection is based on financial need and academic achievement.

Kathy Oda Scholarship
The Kathy Oda Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award sponsored by the Piqua Altrusa Club. The applicant must be a full-time student with a record of scholastic achievement. Preference is given to a non-traditional student who has recently returned to college to continue his/her education.

Piqua Rotary Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time or part-time student who is a resident of Piqua.

William Hart Pitsenbarger Memorial Scholarships
Two scholarships of $1,200 each are awarded annually to full-time students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Plastics Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student who has successfully completed at least 6 credit hours in plastics courses.

Sidney Holiday Inn Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a beginning full-time student who is a resident of Shelby county. The award is based on scholastic achievement and, upon successful completion of the first year, the recipient may qualify for a renewal scholarship.

Sidney Rotary Scholarships
The Rotary Club of Sidney awards a $500 scholarship to a full-time student who is a resident of Shelby county.

Tri-County Trust Scholarships
Scholarships of $800 each are awarded to beginning full-time students who are residents of Miami, Darke or Shelby counties. Eligibility is based on scholastic achievement and financial need.

Troy Eagles Scholarship
The Troy Eagles awards a $1,000 scholarship to a full-time or part-time student who is a resident of Troy.

Troy High School Graduate Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to full-time or part-time students who are graduates of Troy High School.

Samuel E. Valandingham Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to an Edison student pursuing an Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Applied Business, or Associate of Technical Study degree on a full-time basis. Preference is given to a student with an interest in architectural drafting.

Thomas and Patricia Robinson Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to full-time or part-time students who demonstrate academic achievement.
