Computer Electronics option

The Computer Electronics program prepares students for the design, interface, installation, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, networking, and electronic control systems.  Emphasis is on electronics, microprocessors, microprocessor-based control systems, microcomputer hardware, operating systems and networking, and computer programming.  Students will integrate hardware with software and explore alternative trade-offs in the process of problem-solving and troubleshooting.

Graduates of this program can function as electronics technicians, electronics installation and repair specialists, computer programmers, network installation and maintenance technicians, and applications engineers.  A person must have a comprehensive understanding of electronics hardware, computer hardware and networking requirements, and computer programming to work at this level in business and industry.

Program Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency with electronic components and circuits.
     

  2. Demonstrate applications of electronics to modern computer systems.
     

  3. Develop computer electronics design techniques using the latest technology.
     

  4. Demonstrate proficiency in computer programming.
     

  5. Demonstrate familiarity with computer hardware and networking
     

  6. Demonstrate problem solving skills and troubleshooting techniques in electronics.
     

  7. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills.
     

  8. Explain ethical considerations involved in electronics design.
     

  9. Apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
