All students who have been admitted to the College,
taken the COMPASS exam, and have enrolled in early childhood development
courses are considered pre-ECD students until they have satisfactorily
completed the requirements for formal admission to the ECD program.
Students must complete application requirements prior to the start of the
career program. To be admitted to the ECD
program, students must:
- Have successfully completed ENG 121S, SPE
121S/COM 120S, and 15 credit hours with at least nine credit hours in
ECD.
- Have completed math competency through MTH 097
or tested into at least MTH 098D on the COMPASS exam.
- Maintain a 2.0 grade point average in all
academic coursework, and pass all ECD classes and PSY 225S with at
least a "C".
- Have completed the entrance interview with the
ECD coordinator.
- Have a completed background check.
- Have provided the ECD coordinator with:
- Three completed recommendation forms from
persons who can attest to the student's personal and moral
character. All recommendations must be from persons who are
not related to the student.
- signed Edison Community College ECD Statement
that he/she has never been convicted of child abuse or crimes of
violence
- completed Edison Communicy College ECD
Medical Statement signed by a licensed physician. The medical
statement must include the results of a Mantoux skin test.

equivalency
- completed ECD Application Form
